📌 그의 인생을 바꾼 말 한마디의 힘 📌
1950년 5월 13일, 미국 미시간 주 새기노 카운티에서 미숙아로 태어난 스티블랜드 하더웨이 모리스 (Stevland Hardaway Morris)
태어나자마자 인큐베이터에 보내진 스티블랜드는 산소 과다 공급 사고로 미숙아 망막병증을 앓고 시력을 잃는 장애를 갖게 된다.
가난하고 불우했던 스티블랜드의 어린 시절, 그런 그의 삶을 송두리째 바꿔놓은 사건이 있었다.
그가 아홉 살 때 피츠제럴드 초등학교(Fitzgerald Elementary School)에서 수업을 듣고 있었다.
그런데 “쥐다! 쥐 잡아라!”
교실은 순식간에 아수라장이 됐고, 쥐는 어디론가 감쪽같이 숨어버렸다
그러자 수업을 진행하던 베네두치 선생님은 시각장애가 있는 스티블랜드에게 이런 부탁을 한다.
“쥐가 어디있는지 알려줄래?”
스티블랜드는 당황하며 대답했다.
“저는 앞을 볼 수 없는데요?”
베네두치 선생님은 웃으며 이렇게 말했다.
“너는 비록 앞을 볼 수 없지만, 그 누구보다 뛰어난 귀를 가졌단다.”
이 말 한마디는 스티블랜드의 삶을 바꿔 놓는다. 쓰레기통 뒤에 숨은 쥐를 찾아낸 것은 물론 음악에 대한 큰 꿈을 키워 가게 된다.

📌 The power of every word that changed his life 📌
Born prematurely on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw County, Michigan, the United States, Stevland Hardaway Morris was born prematurely.
Stevland, who was sent to the incubator as soon as he was born, suffers from premature retinopathy and loses sight due to an oversupply of oxygen.
In his poor and deprived childhood, there was an incident that completely changed his life.
When he was nine years old, he was taking classes at Fitzgerald Elementary School.
Well... "It's a mouse! Catch a mouse!”
The classroom quickly became a mess, and the mouse hid somewhere.
Then Beneduci, who was conducting the class, asks Stevland, who is blind, to do this.
"Can you tell me where the mouse is?”
Stevland replied with bewilderment.
"I can't see.”
Mrs. Beneduci smiled and said...
"Even though you can't see, you have better ears than anyone else."
This single word changes the life of Stevland.
